About the Workshop
This
workshop supports the development of
pre-season and
individual workout training plans with warm-up and cool-down
activities. Coaches are also given the opportunity to
articulate their coaching
philosophies and perspectives on rules and regulations.
Other topics to be addressed are
good nutrition,
scheduling for outdoor track, developing an event-specific
weight-training program for athletes, recruiting athletes at
all levels of competition, and hosting a track and field meet.
Coaches will also explore the energy system
of the human body and how imagery can improve performance, as
well as
the purpose of periodization and the principle of
individualism. Different types of coaching styles will
also be considered along with the importance of providing
feedback.
NOTE:
This workshop offers TWO options for credit.
Participants may choose to follow the one or two credit
tracks. Credit is provided by the University of Rio
Grande, Rio Grande, Ohio.
