About the Workshop

This workshop supports the development of pre-season and individual workout training plans with warm-up and cool-down activities.  Coaches are also given the opportunity to articulate their coaching philosophies and perspectives on rules and regulations.

Other topics to be addressed are good nutrition, scheduling for outdoor track, developing an event-specific weight-training program for athletes, recruiting athletes at all levels of competition, and hosting a track and field meet.

Coaches will also explore the energy system of the human body and how imagery can improve performance, as well as the purpose of periodization and the principle of individualism.  Different types of coaching styles will also be considered along with the importance of providing feedback.

NOTE: This workshop offers TWO options for credit.  Participants may choose to follow the one or two credit tracks.  Credit is provided by the University of Rio Grande, Rio Grande, Ohio.
