Sample Art Lesson Plans Focus on Standards Workshop These lessons are interdisciplinary and active. The "3DNewsprint" and "Fish Prints" lessons were created by Kevin Lyles and are intended for Art teachers, but can be used by any classroom teacher if adapted for classroom content. The "Start with Art" activity is not a lesson plan as much as a teaching model. Starting with the art work is a time trusted Art History method enhanced by employing MOMA's modern questioning strategy. This activity can be connected to many disciplines because art expresses all disciplines; for example, if you are looking for ways to connect the a 7th Grade Science topic concerning the elements of vegetation, specifically flowers and plants, visit the illuminated manuscript pages of the Middle Ages and Renaissance eras by doing a quick search online. Use these images as the exposure to the topic and allow students to explore the research. To start researching images online, consider visiting the online National Gallery of Art, or Mark Hardin's Artchive or Chris Witcombe's Art History site. Google searching under the Images tab is always helpful. Always be sure to cite your sources. Each activity is accompanied by a sample Rubric to enable standards based assessment in the classroom. |
